The BSI recently presented Grundschutz++<\/strong> at an event I attended, providing exciting insights into the planned changes. What became clear: the traditional “IT” Grundschutz belongs to the past \u2013 going forward, it will simply be called Grundschutz, because security extends far beyond IT alone.<\/p>

Key Innovations at a Glance:<\/h3>

  • Significantly reduced requirements<\/strong> \u2013 around 85% fewer, achieved through consolidation and clear \u201cmust\/should\/may\u201d classifications.<\/p><\/li>

  • Clear mapping<\/strong> \u2013 requirements are categorized into practices such as ISMS, technical, and organizational areas: approx. 450 technical, 380 organizational, and 100 ISMS requirements.<\/p><\/li>

  • Target object instead of building blocks<\/strong> \u2013 requirements will directly address information, systems, network elements, applications, locations, procurement, or users. The old building blocks \u2013 and with them the traditional modeling \u2013 will no longer exist.<\/p><\/li>

  • Revised methodology<\/strong> \u2013 Grundschutz++ will be conceptually further developed and made more practical.<\/p><\/li>

  • Open & digital<\/strong> \u2013 instead of the traditional IT compendium, there will be a GitHub repository of requirements, including machine-readable formats (e.g., JSON).<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
